Navigating the Multitude: Communication Collaboration
In the ever-evolving landscape of marketing and communication, reaching a specific audience can feel like navigating a complex maze. When targeting a demographic, marketers face a smorgasbord, plethora, salmagundi, or just plain old mixed bag of options. Each choice—whether it’s a marketing strategy, data analysis tool, or communication channel— is warranted. However, deciding which path to take can be unnerving. Should we opt for a traditional approach or embrace the latest trends? Is it better to focus on social, traditional media, email campaigns, or a combination of a stack of them?
Being part of the CAN Digital Communications Collaboration Day allowed for a day of exploring how collaboration and shared learnings can enhance our approach. In a series of collaborative sessions, communicators from public sector organisations from across the region converged to explore the theme of the day: engagement with young people. This gathering provided a platform for knowledge sharing, practical insights, and actionable strategies as participants delved into real-life issues, seeking innovative solutions with experts.
Danni Clayton of Leeds City Council hosted the day with thought leaders Darren Caveney, Alex Waddington, Antonia Dixey and John Paul Danon deep diving into topics such as building out award winning campaigns, bridging the gap between data and communication, the significance of engaging young people and exploring tactics and selecting the right media channels.
Working-groups then built out workable strategies around critical areas related to youth engagement: Smoking Cessation, Family Support Services, Civic Engagement and Environmental Awareness.
It was fantastic day of learning, engagement, collaboration, and meaningful connections. If you get a chance to part of these sessions, grab it.
