Spotlight on security

In line with Government and NCSC advice around cybersecurity, we are taking a proactive approach to safeguarding our solutions from the increased threat of cyber-attacks.

The data in your e-shot account and the ability to send authenticated emails to large numbers of contacts is an attractive target to threat actors and we have seen other email solutions suffer from serious security breaches in the past 12 months.

New Video Series: Cyber Security

We have teamed up with our friends at SEROCU to produce a series of cyber-security videos. Over the coming weeks we will look at Password best practice, MFA, Phishing and and finally learnings and advice from a local government who fell victim to an attack.

Video 1: The Cyber-threat landscape

We have teamed up with our friends at SEROCU to produce a series of cyber-security videos. Over the coming weeks we will look at Password best practice, MFA, Phishing and and finally learnings and advice from a local government who fell victim to an attack. This first video in the series looks at the cyber landscape and introduces the dark world we are up against.

Video 2: MFA

Traditional usernames and passwords can be easily compromised. According to entrepreneur 90 percent of employee passwords can be cracked in six hours or less and 65% of people use the same password is multiple places. Whereas Microsoft manager Alex Weinert stated in a 2019 blog post that, “Based on our studies, your account is more than 99.9% less likely to be compromised if you use 2FA or MFA.” Find out all you need to know from the experts at SEROCU.

Video 3: Phishing

With news about data breaches and ransomware attacks hitting the headlines daily, cybersecurity continues to be in the spotlight. Phishing is THE most common attack vector used by cyber criminals, so as an email communicator you need to understand both how to protect yourself and your organisation from phishing attacks.

Video 4: Passwords

Passwords are part of everyday life, and whilst some systems ask for certain numbers of characters or special characters and a mix of alphanumeric upper and lowercases - it is all too easy to fall into the trap of reusing passwords or setting ones that could be easily guess with minimal social engineering. Make sure your password is long, strong and unique - as it is your first line of defence. Get the advice of the experts - it will be the best 5 minutes you have spent this year!

Video 5: Cyber Attack - Learnings for local government

“At first, we didn't truly understand the impact and nature of the attack, how it wiped us out, or what it actually means to an organisation to lose everything. How do you in the modern age deliver a service if you've lost [everything]?”

We spoke to Jez Rogers, Cyber security advisor and part of the South East Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) about the learnings direct from an affected organisation, to hear his, and their, advice on how to best prepare for if the worst should happen.

We have created also created downloadable checklist to help you get put your response plans together.

To all our customers

We would strongly encourage all our customers to review the security of their e-shot accounts and enhance it by enforcing 2FA or Sign-in via Microsoft for all users:

We have also created educational templates that can help share the message about cyber-security both internally and externally.
