New email library for national campaign toolkits

New email library for national campaign toolkits

On 30th November at #CommsAcad 2022, LGcomms and e-shot launched a new resource for LGcomms members.

Have you noticed that in many of the national campaign toolkits email is overlooked?

Email is more than just a newsletter. It is a responsive, intelligent, and accessible means to boost campaigns and deliver measurable outcomes and as such is a key part of successful omnichannel campaigns.

Working in partnership, e-shot and LGcomms have created a solution to plug this gap in the national campaign toolkits, by creating the email assets you would need to compliment the social and other digital assets that are routinely provided.

Michael Stringer, Assistant Director of Communications at Surrey County Council, and member of the LGcomms Executive Committee, said:

“This is a fantastic resource for public sector comms teams, offering quick and professional templates for e-mail. It’s really important as communicators to seek out new ways to use our core channels – e-mail being one of them – and e-shot are a valuable partner in doing just that. I’d encourage everyone to take a look at the library to see what can be done.”

The designs available include campaigns such as Help for Households and Winter Vaccinations and this library will be continually added to. There is also a straightforward way to add suggestions of campaigns that local gov communicators would like the e-shot design team to investigate and provide emails for – so even if you don’t find what you are looking for there is an easy way to ask.

All the designs are responsive and accessible and available in a format compatible with any email system. Members already using e-shot will also be able to use them as templates to adapt, with users of other systems able to download the HTML files which they can send out via their solution.

As the campaigns included are all either national awareness or health messages where there is no vested or commercial interest from a third party both under GDPR and PECR the legal basis for processing is not purely restricted to consent – both public task and legitimate interest also come into play. We would recommend talking to your DPO to determine the best route in line with your existing data processing practices. If you would like more details on a specific campaign, simply contact the team for more information.
